Effects and Benefits of a Large-Scale Coaching Programme in Nordea Bank (Denmark)
This session will describe an unusually large-scale coaching training initiative in the biggest bank in Scandinavia involving more than 3000 managers and 10.000 employees in over four countries. It will address the following questions: How is coaching challenging the business? In what way does coaching add value in a financial services context?
Biography
Kim Gørtz is a philosopher from the University of Copenhagen who is carrying out an in-depth investigation, now in its 3rd year, in the largest bank in Scandinavia (30.000 employees), Nordea Bank - focusing on the effects and benefits of coaching in relation to leadership development, internal relations, customer relations and the implementation of lean processes. He is a member of the editorial board of IJCO. He has been involved in editing two coaching anthologies, as well as written a book on coaching from several philosophical perspectives, and has a new book forthcoming on the relationship between coaching and values in business-life.
Dennis Rasmussen is a psychologist from the University of Copenhagen, specialised in organisation development psychology. He has been working with organisational and leadership development for more than 15 years in three different sectors. Since 1998 he has been working in Unibank/Nordea - the largest bank in the Nordic region - with leadership development, and since 2003 has headed the Leadership Development unit. The Leadership Development unit has 23 full time. employees, including consultants, support and PhD students. Dennis began the organisational coaching journey in the bank in 2001-2002 and is today leading and driving the coaching development process in the organisation. Coaching at the bank has a strategic focus and is one of the banks leadership competences.
